Nexans Olex has been awarded the supply of cable to the Kiamal Solar Farm, a $90 million investment which is expected to be Victoria’s largest photovoltaic solar farm.

Kiamal Solar Farm ( is a photovoltaic solar farm located near the town of Ouyen (approximately 100km south of Mildura) in Victoria’s north-west. The proposed solar farm is to be made up of two sections, seperated by the Calder Highway, and will generate a capacity of 350MW (AC rating). The project scope includes up to 450 MW (nameplate capacity solar PV modules); PV inverter collection boxes; onsite medium voltage cabling of up to 33kV; grid connections (66kV and 220kV) including switching stations, transformers ad overhead lines; an onsite energy storage facility and associated project infrastructure.

This large-scale project win comes down to Nexans Olex’s specialised project team’s ability to satisfy our customer’s requirements from all perspectives. This includes a tight and dedicated delivery schedule, planned around the customer’s strict deadlines.

Nexans Olex will be supplying low voltage direct current, medium voltage, data, and fibre cables to the solar farm. The first cable delivery is scheduled for quarter-four 2018.
