Nexans Olex has been awarded the supply of a low voltage cable bundle and medium voltage cable to the Gruyere Gold Mine in Western Australia (https://bit.ly/2JM5wmn), one of the largest undeveloped gold deposits in Australia.

Since the area’s discovery in 2013, the Mineral Resource has grown to 144 million tonnes grading 1.3 grams per tonne for 5.9 million ounces of contained gold. Construction of the project began in 2017 with the first gold pour scheduled for late quarter-two 2019. It’s estimated that during 2019, Gruyere is expected to produce between 170,000 and 230,000 ounces of gold. Post 2019, production is estimated at 31 million tonnes per year to produce on average 270,000 ounces of gold. Construction of the mining infrastructure commenced in quarter-one 2018.

The Gruyere Gold project is a substantial win for Nexans Olex. The project team established a relationship with the EPC contractor early in the project cycle, providing high quality products and fulfilling requests in full and on time. Nexans Olex’s position as a long-standing Australian manufacturer of power cables has also played a role in this project’s win.

Nexans Olex has supplied a low voltage cable package to the Gruyere Gold Mine in 2018. It is anticipated that cable supply will continue to the project.
